The Disability and Business Magazine publishes articles from practitioners, scholars, managers, and workers who are interested in the fields of workers and entrepreneurs with disabilities. Promoting the contributions of workers and entrepreneurs with disabilities in business enhances the matching and integration of different skill sets, backgrounds, and capabilities in terms of how the bottom-line of organizations are affected.

The Disability and Business Magazine will feature the following sections:

Interviews of persons with disabilities who aspire to be entrepreneurs.
Autobiographical stories of working persons with disabilities.
Autobiographical stories of entrepreneurs with disabilities.
Interviews and feature stories of disability and social entrepreneurship organizations.
Stories and features of corporate practices related to persons with disabilities.
Selected chapters from related texts written by the editors
Letters to the Editor.

The decision to publish or not publish an article is solely up to the discretion of the editors; the decision of the editors is final. The publications of the DBM become the exclusive property of the DBM, and can not be published or reproduced by any other source without the expressed approval of one of DBM�s Executive Editors. The Magazine is not liable for any legal action taken in relation to the publication of papers or articles. The DBM is not responsible for inaccuracies related to the empirical research or opinions expressed in the publications as set forth by the authors of the papers. The study of disability as it relates to employment and entrepreneurship is an ongoing phenomenon and we want you to be an active part of its growth!

Stories of Your Social Venture

Story Criteria
Are you a person with a disability that is either starting or has started a business that is:

Realistic- Offering a plausible, viable opportunity?
Affordable-The product and/or service can be produced and purchased at a reasonable cost.
Profitable- The product/service is revenue generating.
Above All, Good for Society- Will or does the business promise to assist and empower people and communities to grow and prosper?

If so, we want to hear about it- and we want others to know about your business too. We are primarily interested in the following ten fields of social entrepreneurship:

Corporate Social Responsibility
Diversity & Multiculturalism
Education and Literacy
Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities
Funding and Innovation
Health and Medical Ethics
Information Technology
Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Social Welfare
Poverty Alleviation
Sustainable Business Practices

Send us a story of no more than 500 words telling us:

The mission statement of your organization.
Why your business either will be or is successful.
Why investors and/or consumers should take note of your company.
Most importantly, what specific contribution your product and/or service will either provide and/or already provides to individuals, the community, and/or society-at-large.

Also, if you are a worker who has a story of how you overcame adversity in the workplace we would also like to hear from you. Send us a story telling us:

What adversity you faced in the workplace.
How you overcame these challenges.
How you are an example to other prospective workers with disabilities.

If you represent an organization that advocates on behalf of individuals with disabilities we would also like to hear from you and/or your members. Together we can make this vision a collective one!
